Griffin’s meritorious effort to raise public awareness and understanding
Former Chicago and Harvard law professor Cass Sunstein, who in 2009 was appointed by President Barack Obama to direct an important executive branch office, had in 2008 co-authored an article containing a plan for the government to prevent the spread of anti-government “conspiracy theories.” Arguing that such theories are believed only by groups suffering from “informational isolation,” he advocated the use of anonymous government agents to engage in “cognitive infiltration” of these groups in order to introduce “cognitive diversity,” with the aim of breaking them up.
Noting that Sunstein’s proposal has evoked condemnations from across the political spectrum–not least because it, being similar to the FBI’s COINTELPRO of the 1960s, would be illegal–David Ray Griffin focuses on the fact that Sunstein’s primary target is the conspiracy theory advocated by the 9/11 Truth Movement. Examining Sunstein’s charge that this theory is both “harmful” and “demonstrably false,” Griffin uses both satire and overwhelming evidence to show that this twofold charge applies instead to what Sunstein calls “the true conspiracy theory” about 9/11-namely, the “theory that Al-Qaeda was responsible for 9/11.”

Calling in to the Alex Jones show today, WeAreChange founder and political activist Luke Rudkowski said he was set-up for arrest at the Hilton Hotel on Manhattan last Saturday. Luke was at the hotel in order to ask New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg about his refusal to help with the medical costs of 9/11 first responders. Bloomberg had promised to address the issue but has since ignored the pleas of WeAreChange and others to help first responders.
Rudkowski said Bloomberg’s security detail and hotel security claimed he would not leave the hotel. Luke told Jones he asked to leave the premise on numerous occasions and was not allowed to do so.
Anthony Verias, who accompanied Rudkowski, told Alex they were victims of a “classic set-up.”Verias was assaulted and brought into an office where he was subjected to intimidation and harassment by hotel security and Bloomberg’s plainclothes “goons,”as Anthony described them.
Luke said fellow WeAreChange activist Manny Valencia was assaulted as he taped Rudkowski’s arrest and his camera was confiscated.
Rudkowski said conditions at Manhattan Central Booking are deplorable. He said the holding cells were overcrowded with overflowing toilets and infested with cockroaches. Corrections officers told Rudkowski because his case is political his files would be lost and his court appearance delayed.
The police would not return WeAreChange cameras and video footage because they consider it evidence in a criminal case. Luke was told he would have to go through the District Attorney and his lawyers to get the footage and equipment returned. Police told Rudkowski the videotapes may be erased.
Rudkowski said police were generally supportive and helpful even though the police did not offer vouchers for WeAreChange equipment and videotapes. Rudkowski asked for the vouchers.
Luke faces a trial in two months on a charge of criminal trespass.
Rudkowski, Manny Valencia, and Anthony Verias will appear later this evening on the Infowarrior show with Jason Bermas.

In a near complete reversal of his comments on Tuesday, when he told a Congressional hearing that there were no plans to move towards a global currency to supplant the dollar, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner sought to please the elitist CFR by assuring them that he was “open” to the notion of a new global currency system.
Geithner’s two-faced reversal is another shining example of how much contempt Obama administration front men have for the American people – assuring them one day that the dollar will remain while the next pandering to their globalist puppet masters the CFR as the move towards a global monetary union accelerates.
As we reported yesterday, Obama, Geithner and Bernanke on Tuesday publicly defended the dollar and denounced proposals by China and Russia to supplant the greenback with a new global currency, and yet the very policies of the Obama administration, the Treasury and the Federal Reserve are creating the perfect storm for the dollar’s death and its replacement with a new international reserve currency.
“Would you categorically renounce the United States moving away from the dollar and going to a global currency as suggested by China?” a lawmaker asked Treasury Secretary Geithner on Tuesday.
Geithner immediately responded, “I would.”
However, just a day later, Geithner told the CFR in a speech that he was “open” to the Chinese proposal to replace the dollar with a new international reserve system.
In response, “The dollar fell 1.3 per cent against the euro as headlines saying “Geithner open to SDR currency” flashed across traders’ screens,” reports the Financial Times.
“I haven’t read the governor’s proposal. He’s a very thoughtful, very careful distinguished central banker. I generally find him sensible on every issue,” said Geithner, before adding, “We’re actually quite open to that suggestion – you should see it as rather evolutionary rather building on the current architecture rather than moving us to global monetary union.”
However, any move away from the dollar and towards an international reserve system, including the use of “special drawing rights” – a synthetic multinational currency maintained by the IMF, cannot be defined as anything other than a move towards a global monetary union.
The continued use of the dollar as a reserve currency, he added, “depends..on how effective we are in the United States…at getting our fiscal system back to the point where people judge it as sustainable over time.”
By that standard then, the dollar is a dead duck.
The moderator of the CFR forum later gave Geithner a chance to reverse his comments, nervously sensing that he’d let the cat out of the bag.
Geithner’s comments to the CFR are noteworthy because the CFR itself has constantly lobbied for the end of the dollar and its replacement with a new global currency as part of a wider agenda to establish global governance.
In May 2007, Benn Steil, the director of international economics at the Council on Foreign Relations wrote an article for the CFR’s influential Foreign Affairs magazine entitled The End of National Currency, in which he wrote that, “the world needs to abandon unwanted currencies, replacing them with dollars, euros, and multinational currencies as yet unborn.”
Steil wrote that “countries should abandon monetary nationalism” and “produce a new multinational currency over a comparably large and economically diversified area.” In the article, he argues that unneeded currencies should first be replaced by the dollar or the euro, but that even these currencies were just a temporary solution for an ultimate goal of a world monetary union. World Net Daily featured Steil’s comments in a piece entitled Goodbye U.S. dollar, hello global currency.
Paul Volcker, former Fed Chairman, has also called for a world monetary union, famously stating, “A global economy requires a global currency.”
Volcker’s replacement Alan Greenspan has also badmouthed the dollar’s position as the world reserve currency, arguing that it should be replaced by the euro and also encouraging Arab countries to abandon their dollar pegs, which would be disastrous for the greenback.
Groups like the Single Global Currency Union have also received support from NGO’s and other influential policymakers in the pursuit of creating a global currency as part of a wider agenda to implement “global governance”.
In addition, White House economic adviser Austan Goolsbee refused to rule out the introduction of a global currency in an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer earlier this week.
Treasury Secretary Geithner has played a leading role in the wholesale looting of the greenback, announcing this week that the printing presses will be cranked to the tune of at least another $1 trillion to buy more “toxic assets” from the sagging balance sheets of failing institutions – again, all at the expense of the taxpayer who will pay for it with rampant tax hikes and runaway inflation on fuel and food later down the road.
Geithner’s double-dealings are nothing less than traitorous. While publicly downplaying the demise of the dollar and the birth of a global currency, his every action is greasing the skids for that very scenario to unfold. In the meantime, he’s careful to assure the anti-American fifth column Council on Foreign Relations, who have vehemently lobbied for a global currency, that the agenda for a world monetary union, a key cog in the pursuit of world government, is right on track.

Finally the US authorities have gotten ‘tough’ with the predator financial institutions. The world has been waiting for such decisive intervention since an unending series of Government bailouts of financial institutions began early in 2008 amounting to now trillions of taxpayer dollars. Now, with the world’s largest insurance giant, AIG, the White House Economic Council chairman, Larry Summers has expressed ‘outrage.’ President Obama himself has entered the fray to promise ‘justice.’ US Senators have threatened a law to change the injustice. The only problem is they are all exercising ‘politics of deflection,’ taking attention away from the real problem, the fraudulent bailout.

The issue is over AIG announcing it was obligated to pay its traders in its high-risk London unit a sales bonus totaling $165 million for the year. Obama Treasury Secretary, Tim Geithner has announced a novel strategy for ‘justice.’ AIG will ‘reimburse’ the taxpayers up to $165 million for bonuses the company is giving employees. AIG will pay the Treasury an amount equal to the bonuses, and the Treasury will deduct that amount from the $30 billion in government (taxpayer) assistance that will soon go to the company. But he said that the Obama administration hasn’t given up on efforts to recoup the money from the employees who got the bonuses. Good luck.
Larry Summers is the man directly responsible for the mess. As Clinton Treasury Secretary from 1999-January 2001 he shaped and pushed the financial deregulation that unleashed the present crisis. He was Treasury Secretary after July 1999 when his boss, Robert Rubin left to become Vice Chairman of Citigroup, where Rubin went on to advance the colossal agenda of deregulated finance directly.
As Treasury Secretary in 1999, Summers played a decisive role in pushing through the repeal of the Glass Steagall Act of 1933 that was instituted to guard against just the kind of banking abuses taxpayers now are having to bail out. Not only Glass-Steagall repeal. In 2000 Summers backed the Commodity Futures Modernization Act that incredibly mandated that financial derivatives, including in energy, could be traded between financial institutions completely without government oversight, ‘Over-the-Counter’ as in where the taxpayer is now being dragged. Credit default Swaps, at the center of the current storm, would not have been possible without Larry Summers and the Commodity Modernization Act of 2000. He is now the White House Economic Council chairman, mandated to find a solution to the crisis he helped make along with Tim Geithner, his friend who is Treasury chief. Foxes should never be asked to guard the henhouse.
Theatre of the absurd or deflection?
This all makes great food for tabloid headlines and popular outrage. They can write that elected politicians are finally acting in taxpayer interests. Until we look a bit more closely. Paying $165 million in employee bonuses or any amount for a company that is in the middle of a multi-trillion dollar fraud that is bringing the world economy down with it is ‘outrageous.’
The problem is the tax bailout haemmorrhage will go on. The reason is the Obama Administration like its predecessor refuses to take consequent action with AIG, despite the fact today the US Government owns at least 80% of AIG stock, bought for $180 billion of, yes, taxpayer dollars. To demand AIG ‘pay back the government’ is absurd as the government is in effect demanding it pay itself back with its own money. The latest claim that the Treasury will subtract the $165 million bonus money from the next $30 billion tranche it will give AIG says it all.
Preserving the CDS bubble
The political ‘outrage’ expressed by the Obama Administration is an example of ‘perception management.’ The population is being slylyduped into believing their officials are working in their interest. In reality the officials are channeling growing popular outrage over endless bank bailouts away from the real problem to an entirely tertiary one. The US Government has injected $180 billion since September 2008 to keep the ‘brain dead’ AIG in business and honoring its Credit Default Swap obligations. In effect, they are propping up the casino to continue endless gambling with taxpayer dollars.
The rise of a market in derivatives or ‘swaps’ contracts supposedly to ‘insure’ against a company going into default and not being able to honor its debts, the Credit Default Swaps market, is at the heart of the global financial catastrophe. The market was ‘invented’ by a young economist at JP MorganChase, interestingly enough one of the few big banks recording profit today.
As noted, CDS trading was created free from US Government regulation by President Clinton when he signed the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000 that mandated that financial derivatives not be under government regulation scrutiny. Enron crony and UBS bank adviser, Texas good ‘ol boy Congressman Phil Gramm helped pass the laws at a time his wife, Wendy headed the putative regulator, the Commodity Futures Trading Corporation (CFTC). That gave the green light to a derivatives market nominally worth more than $62 trillion in 2008. No one knows the exact size because this is a ‘phantom banking market’ completely private and between banks, so-called OTC for Over-The-Counter, ‘just between us.’
Michael Greenberger who headed the CFTC Division of Trading and Markets in the late 1990’s at the time of the financial deregulation acts, says that banks and hedge funds”were betting the subprimes would pay off and they would not need the capital to support their bets.” The unregulated Credit Default Swaps, he says, have been at “the heart of the subprime meltdown. In 1998 Greenberger proposed regulating the growing derivatives market. At the prospect, he says, “all hell broke loose. The lobbyists for major commercial banks and investment banks and hedge funds went wild. They all wanted to be trading without the government looking over their shoulder.”
The confidence between banks, the ‘just between us,’ collapsed after the ill-conceived decision by the US Government on September 15 2008 not to save the world’s fourth largest investment bank, Lehman Brothers. By then, there was no alternative but to nationalize and then sort out the mess. Bankruptcy, as the world now realizes, was not an option. But neither was the Henry Paulson TARP ‘casino rescue plan’ and Geithner’s continuation any option.
At the point the Government let Lehman Bros go down only months after saving the far smaller Bear Stearns and also AIG, not even a bank, there was no clear idea who would be saved and who not. No bank could afford to trust any other bank not to be holding just as risky loans as they. The crisis became a global systemic crisis. Notably, the man who participated in the decision to let Lehman Bros fail ‘to teach a lesson’ was then President of the New York Federal Reserve, US Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner.
The US Government has stated that AIG cannot be allowed to fail, that, to use the jargon, AIG is ‘too big to fail.’ The reason the Government says it can’t let AIG fail is that if the company defaulted, hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of Credit-Default Swaps (CDS) would ‘blow up,’ and US and European banks whose toxic assets are supposedly insured by AIG would suddenly be sitting on immense losses. Quite the contrary, AIG is ‘too big to save’ under current rules of the game that have been written by Wall Street and the privately-owned Federal Reserve, Treasury Secretary Geithner’s former employer.
The CDS fraud
Credit Default Swaps purported, in theory, to let banks remove loan risk from their balance sheet onto others such as AIG, an insurer. It was based on a colossal fraud using flawed mathematical risk models.
AIG went big into the selling Credit Default Swaps with banks around the world, from its London ‘Financial Practices’ unit. AIG in effect issued pseudo ‘insurance’ for the hundreds of billions of dollars in new Asset Backed Securities (ABS) that Wall Street firms and banks like Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Barclays were issuing, including Sub-prime Mortgage Backed Securities.
It was a huge Ponzi scheme built by AIG that depended on the fact the world’s largest insurance company held a rare AAA credit rating from Moody’s and S&P rating agencies. That meant AIG could borrow more cheaply than other companies with lower ratings
AIG issuing of CDS contracts acted as a form of insurance for the various exotic Asset Backed Securities (ABS) securities being issued by Wall Street and London banks. AIG was saying ‘if, by some remote chance’ those mortgage-backed securities suffered losses, AIG would pay the loss, not the banks.
Then it got really wild. Because credit-default swaps were not regulated, not even classed as a traditional insurance product, AIG didn’t have to set aside loss reserves! And it didn’t. So when housing prices started falling, and losses started piling up, it had no way to pay off.
AIG then issued of hundreds of billions of dollars worth of CDS instruments to allow banks to make their balance sheets look safer than they really were. Banks were able to get their loan risk low not by owning safer assets. They simply bought AIG’s credit-default swaps. The swaps meant that the risk of loss was transferred to AIG, making the bank portfolios look absolutely risk-free. That gave banks the legal illusion of BIS minimum capital requirements, so they could increase their leverage and buy yet more ‘risk-free’ assets.
How could that be allowed? The level of venal corruption in the Clinton and then Bush Administration rivals that of the last days of Rome before its fall from the internal rot of corruption. Banks invested billions in lobbying Washington politicians to get their way.
What can be done?
Fortunately there is a simple way out of the AIG debacle. The US Government can step in and fully nationalize AIG, 100%, kick out responsible management, declare AIG’s CDS contracts null and void and let holders sue the US government to regain value for what were in reality lottery gambles not loans to the real economy. They own 80% so the step is small to 100%. Doing that would end the global market in CDS and open the door for countless legal challenges. But AIG’s counterparties, as we begin to learn, were exactly the big Wall Street players like Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, even Deutsche Bank. They have gotten enough taxpayer bailouts to cover their risk in CDS. Let them recognize risk is the heart of banking, not the opposite.
Myron Scholes, the ‘father’ of financial derivatives, who won a Nobel Prize in economics in 1997 for inventing the stock options model that led to financial derivatives back in the 1970’s, has declared that derivatives and Credit Default Swaps have gotten so dangerously out of hand that authorities must ‘blow up’ the market.
Scholes says derivatives traded over the counter should be shut down completely. Speaking at York University Stern School of Business recently, he said the “solution is really to blow up or burn” the over-the-counter market and start over. He included derivatives on stocks, interest rate swaps and credit default swaps that should be then moved into regulated markets.
The idea is simple and not that radical. A US law banning OTC derivatives and moving them to regulated exchanges would end a colossal ‘shadow banking’ fraud. Banks would not lose much more than already, but the world financial system would get back to ‘normal.’ OTC derivatives are unregulated precisely to hide risk and enable fraud by the banks. It is past time to end that. There is where the US Treasury and other Governments must focus, not on meaningless ‘transparency’ calls or trading bonus ‘justice.’
Kucinich Calls For Congressional Investigation Into Cheney Assassination Unit

Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) has called for a formal Congressional probe into allegations by investigative reporter Seymour Hersh that former Vice-President Dick Cheney had his own SS-style political assassination unit.
Kucinich made the call Friday in a letter to Chairman Edolphus Towns of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee which has been published on the Congressman’s website.
Kucinich explains in the letter that, “Mr. Hersh made the allegation before an audience at the University of Minnesota on Tuesday, March 10, 2009. He stated, ‘Under President Bush’s authority, they’ve been going into countries, not talking to the ambassador or the CIA station chief, and finding people on a list and executing them and leaving… It is a special wing of our special operations community that is set up independently. They do not report to anybody, except in the Bush-Cheney days, they reported directly to the Cheney office. . .Congress has no oversight of it.’”
“If true, these operations violate longstanding U.S. policy regarding covert actions and illegally bypass Congressional oversight,” Kucinich adds. “Hersh is within a year or more of releasing a book that is said to include evidence of this allegation. However, we cannot wait a year or more to establish the truth.”
The claims were made by the Award-winning New Yorker writer last Tuesday when he told a University of Minnesota audience “After 9/11, I haven’t written about this yet, but the Central Intelligence Agency was very deeply involved in domestic activities against people they thought to be enemies of the state. Without any legal authority for it. They haven’t been called on it yet.”
Hersh then went on to describe how the Joint Special Operations Command was an executive assassination unit that carried out political`assassinations abroad. . “It is a special wing of our special operations community that is set up independently,” he explained. “They do not report to anybody, except in the Bush-Cheney days, they reported directly to the Cheney office. … Congress has no oversight of it.”
In our exclusive story last weekend we detailed how the assassination unit was not a creation of the Bush administration or Dick Cheney. The Joint Special Operations Command, has in fact been active for decades, has been deployed domestically in the U.S., has killed U.S. citizens, and continues as an integral part of Barack Obama’s expanded wars in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Kucinich has previously targeted the former Vice President, when in April 2007, he filed an impeachment resolution against Cheney charging manipulation of evidence regarding Iraq’s weapons capabilities prior to the invasion of 2003.
The measure was blocked by the Democratic leadership, as were articles of impeachment against President George W. Bush in June 2008.

As you may already be aware, recent media reports indicate that investigative reporter, Seymour Hersh, while answering questions before a public audience at the University of Minnesota divulged information about what he calls an “executive assassination ring” operating under the George W. Bush Administration.
If substantiated, the allegation would have far reaching implications for the United States. Such an assertion from someone of Hersh’s credibility that has a long and proven track record of dependability on these issues merits attention. Mr. Hersh is within a year or more of releasing a book that is said to include evidence of this allegation. However, we cannot wait a year or more to establish the truth. As such, I request that the Full Committee immediately begin an investigation to determine the facts in this matter.
Mr. Hersh made the allegation before an audience at the University of Minnesota on Tuesday, March 10, 2009. He stated, “Under President Bush’s authority, they’ve been going into countries, not talking to the ambassador or the CIA station chief, and finding people on a list and executing them and leaving.”
Mr. Hersh continued, “It is a special wing of our special operations community that is set up independently,” he explained. “They do not report to anybody, except in the Bush-Cheney days, they reported directly to the Cheney office. . .Congress has no oversight of it.”
If true, these operations violate longstanding U.S. policy regarding covert actions and illegally bypass Congressional oversight. Current statute governing covert action (50 U.S.C. 413b) requires a presidential finding and notification to the appropriate congressional committees. Additionally, Executive Order 12333 clearly states that “[n]o person employed by or acting on behalf of the United States Government shall engage in or conspire to engage in assassination.”
I urge the Committee to explore Mr. Hersh’s allegation. Please do not hesitate to call on me or my staff if we can be of assistance.

Review: The Obama Deception by Alex Jones

Alex Jones, for those who don’t know, is the self-described “tip of the spear” in the Infowar. Jones is a nationally-syndicated radio host with a daily listening audience in the hundreds of thousands and he has directed and produced over 20 documentary films. The most recent film, The Obama Deception, could in time be remembered as one of the most important films in our history. The movie is indicative of being rush-released, which it clearly was. Timing is everything. Mr Jones knew what he was doing in getting this film out to the masses fast and I would venture is evidence of its critical timeliness at this moment in history. Never have so many people been so tantalizingly close to waking up their fellow man to the realities of the world we live in. This film may be the one to finally do that.
Barack Obama, despite what the Madison Avenue spin doctors try to tell/sell us, is not the ONE. I think Alex Jones and his film The Obama Deception might just be the ONE. The title of this film is slightly misleading because it is not a film about Obama per se, his questionable character, or even the legitimacy of his presidency in light of the questions surrounding the true origin of his birth. It does cover some of his campaign messages/promises and his subsequent reversals upon assuming office. Notably he has shirked on his commitment to withdrawal the troops from Iraq and also not to appoint lobbyists to his cabinet.
Though Obama gets top billing in this movie the film isn’t that much about our spruce pack-a-day new Prez. What it breaks down is the false left-right paradigm, the military industrial owned and therefore controlled mainstream media and the unholy alliance between the Federal Government and the private offshore banking cartel that is the Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve is the crack dealing money machine to the Federal Government which has been an addict of fiat money since 1913 when Woodrow Wilson sold our country out to the Wall Street den of vipers and thieves. This is the film that will finally get people to understand that there is a shadow government behind the puppet government. It is run by the Rothschild-Rockefeller-British & Dutch Royal Family and assorted Bilderberg cohorts. This is the Anglo-American Empire exposed and Jones does better in exposing the great lie in The Obama Deception than any other film on the subject to date, even his own earlier films.
Some highlights of the 2 hour film are commentary by the extremely balanced and knowledgeable historian Webster G. Tarpley, who is the epitome of calm in a crisis as well as Gerald Celente, top future trends forecaster who long ago saw the onset of Depression 2009 like a dim light down a subway tunnel. The best line in this movie goes to seminal hip-hopper Professor Griff of Public Enemy who asks, “where did we get this sense that just because we have a black man as President everything is going to be OK…everything is NOT going to be OK.”

Hersh: ‘Executive assassination ring’ reported directly to Cheney

Investigative reporter Seymour Hersh dropped a bombshell on Tuesday when he told an audience at the University of Minnesota that the military was running an “executive assassination ring” throughout the Bush years which reported directly to former Vice President Dick Cheney.
The remark came out seemingly inadvertently when Hersh was asked by the moderator of a public discussion of “America’s Constitutional Crisis” whether abuses of executive power, like those which occurred under Richard Nixon, continue to this day.
Hersh replied, “After 9/11, I haven’t written about this yet, but the Central Intelligence Agency was very deeply involved in domestic activities against people they thought to be enemies of the state. Without any legal authority for it. They haven’t been called on it yet.”
Hersh then went on to describe a second area of extra-legal operations: the Joint Special Operations Command. “It is a special wing of our special operations community that is set up independently,” he explained. “They do not report to anybody, except in the Bush-Cheney days, they reported directly to the Cheney office. … Congress has no oversight of it.”
“It’s an executive assassination ring essentially, and it’s been going on and on and on,” Hersh stated. “Under President Bush’s authority, they’ve been going into countries, not talking to the ambassador or the CIA station chief, and finding people on a list and executing them and leaving. That’s been going on, in the name of all of us.”
Hersh told MinnPost.com blogger Eric Black in an email exchange after the event that the subject was “not something I wanted to dwell about in public.” He is looking into it for a book, but he believes it may be a year or two before he has enough evidence “for even the most skeptical.”
Stories have been coming out about covert Pentagon assassination squads for the last several years. In 2003, Hersh himself reported on Task Force 121, which operated chiefly out of the Joint Special Operations Command. Others stories spoke of a proposed Proactive, Preemptive Operations Group.
As Hersh noted in Minnesota, the New York Times on Monday described the Joint Special Operations Command as overseeing the secret commando units in Afghanistan whose missions were temporarily ordered halted last month because of growing concerns over excessive civilian deaths.
However, it appears that Hersh is now on the trail of some fresh revelation about these squads and their connection to Vice-President Cheney that goes well beyond anything that has previously been reported.

Tarpley’s Warning: The Bad News About Obama

The good news is that the Bush Administration, the worst gaggle of war criminals since the Third Reich, is about to get tossed, like an old worn-out shoe, into the proverbial dustbin of history.
The bad news is that the new regime might be even worse.
Such a possibility seems unthinkable to most reasonable people, who rightly see Bush as a shoe-in for Worst President Ever. How could a new administration led by a seemingly pleasant, intelligent, eloquent, left-leaning African-American who opposed the Iraq war, and who stands for “hope” and “change,” possibly not be a radical turn for the better?
To answer that question, we must turn to Webster Tarpley’s two-book series on Obama. Even those unconvinced by Tarpley’s jeremiad against Obama, and out of sympathy with some of the quirks of the Tarpleyan worldview, will be dazzled by the author’s formidable erudition. More importantly, readers of all political persuasions need to be exposed to Tarpley’s acerbic take on how power really operates in today’s USA. That take, in a nutshell, is that we have become a plutocracy, a dictatorship of the financiers, who rule from behind the scenes by applying their inexhaustible wealth not just to the political process per se, but also the ideological apparatus behind it. That is, they don’t just buy up the politicians, but also the corporate monopoly media, the intelligence community, and the CIA-linked foundations that fund PBS as well as most of the supposedly left-leaning “independent” media. Obama, according to Tarpley, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the left wing of the financier elite (the Soros-Brzezinski axis) and was probably recruited as an intelligence asset by Zbig guy himself when they were both in political science at Columbia University.
According to Tarpley, the Obama administration is a disaster waiting to happen. The plutocracy behind Obama — that loose confederation of top anglo-American financiers that Barrie Zwicker calls “the diabologarchy” — is hell-bent on world takeover by whatever means necessary. They’ve already played their neocon card, in the form of the Bush-Cheney regime, and now they need to refurbish their global domination project by hiring a more likeable front-man. Obama, Tarpley warns us, may con us into accepting even bigger, more destructive wars than Bush ever dreamed of, beginning with ever-escalating attacks on Pakistan (a nuclear power twice as large as Iraq and with five times Iraq’s population) and moving on to a possible world war designed to take down Russia and China, the two main impediments to the incipient financial dictatorship of the anglo-american New World Order. By targeting nuclear powers, the global domination project will be courting nuclear war. And by tranquilizing and deceiving the natural opponents of war and empire, Obama, that tool of the financier elite, will be paving the road to thermonuclear armageddon.
Alongside the looming disaster of Obama’s move-the-war-to-Pakistan foreign policy, Tarpley sees a parallel catastrophe being visited on the US economy, especially on that great majority of Americans who consider themselves members of the middle class. Obama, Tarpley argues, will provide left cover for an accelerated transfer of resources from the middle classes to the oligarchs, under the guise of the engineered economic crisis. Tarpley foresees that Obama will use his inspirational rhetoric to convince Americans to accept a brutal regime of austerity whose beneficiaries will be the super-rich elites and their global takeover attempt.
Together, these two projects — expanding the war and impoverishing the middle class — are setting the stage for fascism. Obama, Tarpley warns us, has many signs of a fascist dictator in the making. Fascism usually begins as a mass movement of young, left-leaning, idealistic followers of a charismatic orator, and goes downhill from there. When a hypnotic speaker with a tinge of megalomania calls for universal national service for young people, in the teeth of an ever-deepening recession while elites plot world war, the stage is set for a disaster even worse than the one Bush and Cheney brought us…or so Tarpley would have us believe. The silver-tongued Obama might even be able to take us into full-fledged fascism in the wake of a 9/11-style false-flag attack…or so Tarpley would have us believe.
But should we believe him?
The prophets of the Judeo-Christo-Islamic tradition were not just the tellers of concealed, unpopular truths–they were also warners. Today’s heirs to the prophets combine the same functions. If David Ray Griffin is the premiere teller of the biggest concealed unpopular truth of our time, Webster Tarpley is our number one warner.
Back in 1992, Tarpley’s George Bush: The Unauthorized Biography warned us that the almost unimaginably corrupt Bush family was muscling its way into power. In 2004, leading political analyst Kevin Phillips, a closet David Ray Griffin fan, published a Bush biography that leaned heavily on Tarpley’s earlier groundbreaking work. Phillips’ book was an implicit acknowledgment that Tarpley had been ahead of his time.
But even as Phillips was publishing his Tarpley pastiche on Bush the elder, Tarpley himself had moved on to a new subject: the 9/11 inside job. Tarpley warned the 9/11 truth movement that it had better face the facts: 9/11 was obviously a complete false-flag inside job, not just a bunch of unanswered questions or a case of “let it happen on purpose.” By confidently professing MIHOP (“made it happen on purpose”), Tarpley argued, the 9/11 truth movement would affect public opinion far more powerfully than it ever could by pussyfooting around with LIHOP (“let it happen on purpose”). The go-slowers, LIHOPers and agnostics, Tarpley warned us, were not doing 9/11 truth any favors.
Even as he warned us against the perils of LIHOP, Tarpley was issuing a brilliant series of warnings about false-flag terror–especially the likelihood of a false-flag event designed to trigger war with Iran. His 9/11 Synthetic Terror laid the groundwork for the future academic discipline of False-Flag Studies. And the Kennebunkport Warning he inspired may have helped stop a nuclear false-flag targeting Iran in early September, 2007, as evidenced by the stymied theft of several advanced nuclear warheads from the US arsenal just days after the warning was published.
What are we to make of this track record? Tarpley’s detractors see him as an overconfident alarmist, a Chicken Little who repeatedly predicted an attack on Iran that never happened. In their view, his warnings about Obama may turn out to be equally groundless.
Tarpley, who is neither especially modest nor inclined to turn the other cheek, has lashed out at his harshest critics, calling them mediocrities, dupes, perhaps even provocateurs or professional wreckers. While this is not the best way to win friends and influence people, it must be admitted that here, as elsewhere, Tarpley may be right. Dr. Bob Bowman, the ex-fighter pilot and former Space Weapons chief, has credited the 9/11 truth movement with preventing subsequent mega-false-flags that would have otherwise occurred. And Webster Tarpley, with his insistence on calling an inside job an inside job, and his series of false-flag alerts, has probably done more to stop 9112B than anyone else with the possible exception of David Ray Griffin. Those who have worked overtime to smear Tarpley and impede his effectiveness, one might surmise, are either very stupid or working for the other side. Since Tarpley’s harshest critics are keyboard warriors who conspicuously lack historical sophistication, real-world accomplishments, and intellectual integrity, and in some cases hide their true identities behind internet pseudonyms, there are clearly grounds for suspicion.
Given the strength of his track record, Tarpley’s warning about Obama deserves to be taken seriously. And given Obama’s appointments of corrupt New World Order hacks to key positions in his administration, I fear that Tarpley is already being proven right. If so, it won’t be the first time.

An Open Letter to Senator Patrick Leahy

Dear Senator Leahy,
We felt compelled to write to you regarding your recent call for the formation of a “Truth Commission”. According to your press comments, this Commission is supposed to look at the following:
- the politicization of prosecution in the Justice Department
- the wiretapping of U.S. citizens
- the flawed intelligence used to justify the invasion of Iraq
- the use of torture at Guantanamo and so-called black sites abroad
These are serious allegations of criminal activity by certain members of the Bush Administration. While we applaud your initiative in looking into these matters, we feel this approach is wrong.
As the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, you already have the responsibility and legal authority to investigate matters relating to federal criminal law without having to form a special commission. You are also bound by your oath of office to support and uphold the Constitution by ensuring that those who govern also abide by the rule of law.
Furthermore, a “Truth Commission” will not fix the real problems that our country faces, nor will it guarantee that we will get to the truth. The 9/11 Commission, which you want to model your commission after, is a perfect example of that flawed process.
The 9/11 Commission was mandated to follow the facts surrounding the events of September 11, 2001 to wherever they might lead and make national security recommendations based upon those facts. Sadly, prior to even beginning their investigation, like you, the 9/11 Commissioners agreed amongst themselves that their role was to /fact find, not fault find/.
This decision resulted in individuals not being held accountable for their specific failures. These people were shown to be incompetent in the 9/11 Commission’s Final Report but were left in their positions, or worse, promoted. No one should be allowed to make this compromise on behalf of the American people. How can any agency be deemed fixed or reformed if the people working there are inept? How can anyone feel safer?
At the 9/11 Commission hearings, little actual evidence was ever produced. Many individuals were not sworn in, critical witnesses were either not called to testify or were permitted to dictate the parameters of their own questioning, pertinent questions were omitted and there was little follow-up. Whistleblower testimony was suppressed or avoided all together. The National Security Agency, an intelligence agency that is responsible for the collection and analysis of foreign communications and foreign intelligence, was barely investigated at all.
With the narrative of the 9/11 Commission’s final report predetermined and with the preexisting intention to never hold anyone accountable in place, the 9/11 Commission was doomed to fail as a real investigation. The end result of the 9/11 Commission’s work was that some of the recommendations that they produced were in fact, based on distortions and omissions. Since their mandate of a complete accounting was ignored, the recommendations were incomplete at best.
There was clearly no desire on the part of Congress to force the Commission to meet its legislative mandate. Accordingly, there were no repercussions for the fact that the investigation and its recommendations were incomplete. It could be surmised that holding no one accountable was more important than uncovering and disclosing the truth. This could compromise the future safety of American citizens. Why then would you want to model another Commission after it? Why would you want another Commission at all?
Senator Leahy, in light of the fact that the 9/11 Commission’s worst offense was not fully investigating the September 11th attacks, completing that investigation should also be included on your list of matters to be examined.
America’s founding fathers, prescient in their fears of unrestrained power, created three separate but equal branches of government. They had hoped to maintain and enforce the limits of the Executive Branch.
The Bush Administration was allowed to circumvent too many Constitutional restrictions effectively undermining America’s system of justice, our nation’s integrity and commitment to the rule of law. The Bush Administration’s seizing of power proves the adage that “absolute power corrupts absolutely”.
The days of no fault government must end; and where there is clear criminal activity, people must be prosecuted. The law must be upheld without exception before we can be assured of the safety of the nation. These duties cannot be ignored for the sake of expediency.
Senator Leahy, our nation needs you to investigate and, if warranted, refer the cases for criminal prosecution in transparent trials. We do not need another meaningless commission resulting in no accountability at the taxpayers’ expense. Show all Americans that you have the courage to uphold the law, bring accountability to those who abuse their positions of power and prevent such abuses from happening again.
The November 2008 elections proved that Americans want the rule of law restored for those in Washington who are elected to represent us. You, Senator Leahy, are in the position to lead the way and work toward the change we were promised.
